Event
2008 September 9, Tuesday, 7:00pm — Whiting
Library,
Chester, Vermont (presentation by Al Takeda)
The Southern Vermont Astronomy Group will be holding its monthly meeting
and Public Presentation at its "regular year" time of 7PM, on Tuesday
evening the 9th of September. We will discuss what objects to look for in
the September and October skies, followed by keynote presentation by
Boston astrophotographer, Al Takeda, who will be showing spectacular
celestial images, discussing how they were made and what they are of.
Today's amateur Astronomer has been able to photograph celestial objects
that at one time were only produced by professionals. While not having the
budget of NASA or major observatories, techniques have been devised that
can achieve amazing results. This talk will focus on some of those tools
and approaches that can produce stunning images showing us the beauty of
the night sky.
The Southern Vermont Astronomy Group (SoVerA) is an organization composed
of amateur and professional astronomers, educators, students and members
of the lay public. SoVerA is dedicated to making astronomy much more
accessible to all. Talks and presentations are free, open to the public,
and held at the Whiting Library, lower level, on the second Tuesday of
every month.
