The Fall Sky: What to See, What to Do
The Southern Vermont Astronomy Group will be holding its monthly meeting
on Tuesday evening at 8PM, the 12th of August, to discuss the approaching
objects to see in the sky as summer wanes and the leaves begin turning.
This meeting will include a discussion about the water now confirmed on
Mars, and there will also be a demonstration showing the basics of finding
ones way in the night sky using your naked eye and some clever memory
tricks. If clear, attendees will be able to cruise the night sky with
SoVerA members, using laser pointers and star charts. All of the above is
free and open to the public.
The Southern Vermont Astronomy Group (SoVerA) is an organization composed
of amateur and professional astronomers, educators, students and members
of the lay public. SoVerA is dedicated to making astronomy much more
accessible to all. Talks and presentations are free, open to the public,
and held at the Whiting Library, lower level, on the second Tuesday of
every month.
